DIY Headband holder tutorial

Image
This is a simple Do It Yourself headband holder tutorial. I have made four of these and use two of them! You can make these for gifts too! Make more easy gifts here and here . I love this headband holder because it's so cute and holds over 10 headbands. Plus, it looks great in our daughters' bathrooms. Here is what you will need: 4" PVC pipe Batting Fabric of your choice rubberband hot glue and glue gun 4" flower of your choice Let's get started! I bought the 4" PVC pipe at Lowe's and had them cut it in half. I bought the batting at Hobby Lobby.  Don't forget to use your 40% off coupon online. Wrap two layers of batting around the 4" PVC pipe. Glue the edges to the PVC pipe. Tuck the ends in and glue them to the side, like this: Iron your fabric so it is crisp.  Fold your fabric about a 1.5" on one side and iron a crease. This is so you have a nice finished edge. L...

Photos for Sidney's room

Image
We built our house a little over a year ago. It is a long process getting every room decorated. When we moved in, I drew a decorating plan for Sidney's room. The great thing about having a plan, is I can do it in stages. Most recently, I was able to add some artwork to her walls. At first I had peace signs in mind, but then decided to come up with these. I designed these and printed them at home, my background is graphic design, so I was able to custom design these. LIVE, LOVE, HOPE, PEACE. Next step is getting her a tall bookcase. Then her room is done. Here are some pictures of the art. Sidney's room LOVE & PEACE HOPE & LIVE

I love Coffee!

I love coffee flavored anything.  Starbucks is my weakness, I swear they put something in their drinks, because I am addicted. I discovered a wonderful iced coffee recipe that I HAD to try. Well - because - you know, the $5 Starbucks habit has got to go. Of course I found this recipe through pinterest.  It is very cheap and makes drinks for about a month. I probably spent a total of $10 and have over a gallon of coffee. However, I think that the calories are quite expensive. Oh well - that's why I work out every day. The recipe is listed here: http://cravingcomfort.blogspot.com/2011/07/last-iced-coffee-recipe-youll-ever-need.html Enjoy!

I always have a project in mind...

I would really like to have an upholstered square ottoman in my living room.  Man, oh man they are hard to find, and EXPENSIVE.  I am toying with the idea of making my own.  I haven't informed the hubby yet but I've read how to DIY your own tufted ottoman.  It can't be that hard, right? Here is my inspiration. I have a feeling that finding the "right" upholstery will be the major challenge. I'm guessing I will need wood, foam, fabric, glue gun, screws and a staple gun.  Oh, probably a drill too. I think my first research will be the fabric.  Where, oh where can I find a good fabric store in Iowa? And the research begins...
