Real Dorm Room Finds That Moved With My Daughter to Her First Apartment

Image
It's been a while since I've posted. We've been busy getting three kids through High School and College. I thought this would be the perfect time to share some of the things that have worked for us over the years as we move our daughter into her first post-grad apartment. When my daughter started college, I did what most moms do: I scrolled through Pinterest, searched dorm room boards, and filled carts with everything from command hooks to mini ottomans. Some of it worked. Some of it just cluttered the room and never got used. Now that she’s living in her first apartment, there are a handful of things she's  still using,  and I honestly wish we’d just bought those from the start. Rolling Storage Cart Used daily as a food stand in the dorm. Now it lives in the bathroom with hair tools, skincare, and makeup. Cozy Blanket A girl can't have enough blankets, however, this one has stood the test of time and something that she uses.

What is holding you back? Get started already!

What is holding you back? Get started and do it already! Get started and do it already! I was debating whether I should go live here or not, because it’s scary. I’m talking to my phone held out in front of me along the riverwalk and people are walking by. I thought, you know what? This prevents people too front getting started; they just have fear and a bunch of negative self-talk going through their heads. I thought okay, if I’m going to tell people to start getting started with things and they might be afraid of it, why don’t I just go ahead and do this. There may be people walking by looking at me funny because I’m holding my phone out in front of me literally on the riverwalk that is open to the public where people are walking by. Sometimes we just need to get started and that’s the hardest thing for some people. It’s hard for me to push LIVE, it’s hard to push the button to go live and start talking to you. Sometimes you just have to do it and f...

Stop doubting yourself: Push past barriers

Image
Put doubts aside. Stop questioning everything you are doing and keep moving forward. Are you a doubter? Do you doubt everything? do you doubt everybody? Do you doubt that I’m speaking to you about some inpriations goals and needs and information? Do you always doubt people? Do you doubt yourself? I’m not talking about being pessimistic. I’ll tell you today, I was working on projects and I doubted that I could get them finished. It was hard to move forward because I was working on something that was tedious, and I didn’t want keep continuing I wanted to quit. I was doubting myself that I could actually finish. I feel some people grow up that way, that parents don’t think that their child isn’t going to complete something so the parent will do it for them. They are doubting the fact that their child or themselves can actually complete something or do it or finish it. So are you a doubter? Do you doubt other people? Do you think you can’t complete some...

Image

This is Part 2 to a series...make sure you check out Part 1 here . Did you do your homework from Part 1? Did you actually write it down with a pen and paper? If not, take the time to do so now and write down: What three things will motivate you to complete this race? Did you write three things down? Okay good...save those for later. My next series of tips will guide you through your race training. One of the factors people don't sign up for a race is motivation and staying motivated. I ended up reaching out to friends, posting on social media and private messaging friends who I knew had recently run a marathon. I asked them for resources ...
