Mood Board (Room board) Link Party!

Image
I am so excited that Beth from Design Your Dwelling has invited me to co-host her Tuesday Mood Board Link Party. Thanks for this awesome opportunity Beth! When we moved into our house in December, 2010 I started creating room boards (or mood boards) to help guide the direction of decorating our house. These room boards have helped us so much, especially with the evolution of our living room. (post soon to come) The room boards help bring the room together like peanut butter and jelly, peas and carrots, Fred Hoiberg and basketball. #MarchMadnessbaby #CyclONEnation My latest room board has me thinking of spring, although mother nature doesn't agree #PunxsutawneyPhilLied, and I created the below front porch room board. I can't wait to start planting flowers! Enjoy and link up! The three requests for participation: 1. I love geometrics! Throwback post

Image
NOTE: Just another quick shout out to all my sponsors. You are LOVED!  It is Spring Break in our neck of the woods and since I am gone I thought I would do a "throwback" post that is one of MY favorite projects. Have I mentioned lately that I love geometric patterns? I do, and they are starting to find their happy place in our home. I did this Quadrefoil wall art over a year ago, it was so simple and it makes a huge statement in our room.  It's even one of the pieces in our room board . (can you tell, I'm leading up to a BIG room reveal post soon?) I would love to enhance the quadrefoil art with some fabric down the road.  Just need to find the right fabric. Thinking this , this , this or this for a few, too many choices! Quadrefoil Throwback: I'm so excited that this project is finally finished! I found the tutorial online at: http://www.allthingsthrifty.com/2011/08/tutorial-quatrefoil-diy-decorative-wall.html This took me about three weeke...

Image

Check out this month's sponsors in no particular order: Jody with Rodan & Fields ; Lyla's Boutique ; Betsy with Thirty-One ; Design Your Dwelling . Now let's enhance those photos you have. You know the 1,000's of photos you take of your kids and never do anything with? Am I right? Out of all of the pictures, look for the one that is natural. They could be crying, playing, maybe not looking at the camera, but it reminds you of their personality. That is the picture you want to enhance. I love taking pictures and I love editing them to look better.  People ask me all the time, "you need to teach me how to fix my photos." Today is the day peeps.  I am going to do a little Photoshop training for you. Some...

Where we've been: Map Art project

Image
We are still decorating our living room. This room continues to be the focus of our decorating lately.  I've even updated our living room, room board here . We are still deciding what color to paint or maybe even what wallpaper to put on the back of the bookcases. It's a work in progress and I will update you all soon, on what we have added. I'm starting small first by adding little touches to the side table by the stairs. I knew I wanted to create this map art project when I first pinned it on Pinterest. It's a really easy project that you can do with kids too! The materials you will need for the Map Art project are: Shadow box Map (or printed Google maps) Scissors Pencil Scrapbooking tape White paper (optional) Here is the Pin-spiration: I cannot find the original source, if you know where it is from, please pass along. To start, purchase a shadow box frame that will fit in the space you want to display your Map Art project. I chose an 8 x 10 wh...

New March goals and completed February goals

Image
I apologize in advance for another slightly boring "goals" blog post. I just can't help it, writing these posts, and having you all read them, me on task! I can't believe that March is here, this year is going so fast! Baseball and softball season are going to be here before we know it. Maybe for some of you it's all ready here, if you live in warmer weather.  In Iowa we seem to keep getting snow storm after snow storm. I don't mind it, I like the snow. However, this weather has been preventing me from completing some projects that are on my list that require spray painting. I just won't spray paint in the house, not even in the garage, because the residue gets on everything. Those projects will have to wait until this spring or any weather that comes with 56+ degree temps. Anyway on to my March goals: March Goal s Organize Sawyer's bathroom, especially under the sink. Clean/dust indoor light fixtures. Buy Easter outfits for kids Make lis...
